The Story Behind MyHelper
MyHelper.co.za was founded by Mario Labuschagne, a South African serial entrepreneur and registered labour practitioner with the Department of Labour. The idea for MyHelper emerged from Mario's hands-on experience navigating complex compliance requirements while running a professional cleaning company.
Nearly a decade ago, Mario launched Pro Cleaning Solutions, a business he built from the ground up after hours while still working full-time. Over the years, the company expanded its operations across the North West, Gauteng, and Free State provinces, delivering services to both residential and commercial clients.
Pro Cleaning Solutions became known for its high standards and professionalism—serving large institutional clients such as the Department of Labour, the South African Army, and Correctional Services. These contracts demanded strict adherence to legal, safety, and labour compliance requirements, from vetting and documentation to workforce contracts and payroll standards. It was through meeting these high-stakes obligations that Mario developed a deep understanding of South African labour regulations and the consequences of non-compliance.
While working with these institutions, Mario realised that many everyday employers—especially those hiring domestic workers—struggled to meet even the basic legal requirements. Processes like UIF registration, COIDA compliance, employment contracts, and payslip generation were overwhelming for individuals with no support or background in labour legislation.
This gap inspired the creation of MyHelper.co.za—a smart, automated platform built to make domestic worker compliance simple, affordable, and legally sound. Grounded in real-world operational experience and compliance expertise, MyHelper helps employers confidently meet their legal obligations—while ensuring fairness and protection for domestic workers throughout South Africa.

Through my experience leading Pro Cleaning Solutions, which has served respected institutions like the Department of Labour, the South African Army, and the Department of Correctional Services, I witnessed first-hand the high level of compliance required in professional environments. I also saw just how overwhelming and unclear these legal requirements can feel—especially for everyday families employing domestic workers at home.
That's exactly why I created MyHelper: to bridge the gap between complex labour laws and real-life employers who simply want to do the right thing. Our mission is to make domestic worker compliance simple, affordable, and stress-free for South Africans.
